Theatrical follow-up to SSSS.GRIDMAN and SSSS.DYNAZENON. A year has passed since the events of SSSS.GRIDMAN . The world is at peace and no one except for Rikka and Utsumi remembers the kaiju, Gridman, or Akane Shinjou. This includes Yuuta, who despite serving as Gridman's host, has no memory of the most important moments of his life. So when a new Kaiju appears, he leaps at the chance to prove to himself that he too can be the hero by merging with Gridman once more.

Together, this army of fledging psychic warriors must succeed where billions have tried... and failed. But will they be able to gather their champions in time? Genma's agents are already on Earth to ensure that their master meets with no opposition!

Last summer. Friends. And Kaiju. In the summer of 1989, sixth graders Boko, Joe, and Junichi are on their last summer vacation as elementary school students. As if to cut through their daily routine, a monster named Gyaos suddenly attacks Tokyo. The four are petrified in midst of a town turned to ruins. As Gyaos sets its sight on them, a huge turtle-shaped kaiju appears in front of the boys. Its name is Gamera. Despite its injuries, Gamera fights Gyaos with all its might. This would only mark the beginning of the boys' "Summer of Kaiju".
