Boukyaku Battery

Iron-armed pitcher, Haruka Kiyomine, and the shrewd catcher, Kei Kaname, AKA the "Skilled General," were considered to be an unrivaled, monstrous battery duo in the middle-school baseball world. They were both scouted by various powerhouse high schools across the nation, but somehow, they both ended up at Tokyo Municipal Kotesashi High School, which wasn't known for baseball at all. On top of that, other star players who had lost to that duo in the past and completely strayed from baseball coincidentally also enrolled at that school, and… Their meeting sets everything into motion once again. Their high school baseball story begins now!

Asano's novels revolve around Takumi Harada, a young man who moves to a mountain town in Okayama prefecture during the spring break before he enters middle school due to his father's job transfer. Takumi is a pitcher, and after the moves he loses faith in his own talent, when suddenly his classmate Gou Nagakura appears in front of him. Gou has a strong desire to form a "battery" (a combination of a pitcher and catcher) with Takumi.

After a falling out with his middle school team, Mihashi enters Nishiura high school with no social skill, a warped opinion of himself, and every intention to quit baseball. The newly formed Nishiura baseball team, however, needs a pitcher, and they welcome him. Most enthusiastic is Abe, a domineering catcher with his own game issues. And so a battery every bit as complementary as it is dysfunctional is formed. If they can figure out how to work together, they might be the answers to each other's problems-and the team might be able to win.
