Some passions are worth dying for... Code Name: Golgo 13 - Professional Assassin. Mission: Terminate the infamous Queen Bee, leader of a dissident South American liberation army, before she kills a high profile Presidential Candidate. One problem: Queen Bee isn't your average radical. When she was a child, they destroyed her world and left her to live like an animal. But they didn't kill her spirit. As a woman, cunning and powerful, she lives only for passion and revenge. Once Golgo 13 discovers Queen Bee's true identity, he decides that he must step aside as a very personal feud climaxes to a tragic end - an end that you won't predict!

The girls of the Social Welfare Agency are no ordinary children. They are the grisly remains of human wreckage pieced back together with cybernetic implants and trained to kill by the government. The oldest, Triela, pursues her targets with a ferocious enthusiasm, unwilling to settle for less than total annihilation. Her mirror in this bloody stalemate is Pinocchio, a shell of a boy raised as an assassin by the FRF: a terrorist faction at war with the SWA. Cold and cruelly efficient, he wields sharpened steel as though it were an extension of his own hand. Once human, these shattered souls have become murderous machines with only vague recollections of what it meant to be real — and a brutal compulsion to be the last killer standing.

After being devastated in the third World War (known as The Third Division), Japan was divided in two. Several years after the end of the war, a crime organization called Vischio has taken control of the destroyed city of Toshima (formerly Tokyo, Japan's capital city), where they are holding a battle game known as "Igura". The main character, a young man named Akira, is falsely accused of a crime. Once arrested, a mysterious woman appears before him, offering him freedom if he agrees to participate in Igura and defeat Igura's strongest man: the king, or "Il-re". The story follows Akira's life in the harsh, lawless Toshima as he fights both to survive and to unravel the mysteries developing around him.
